A Spontanious Apple Tree Shoot

I don’t know about you but when I get an idea in my head I just have to do it. No matter how crazy and impractical it is. My brain just goes into overdrive and I can’t sleep until it’s done. Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s a creative brain thing, I don’t know. Well here is a perfect example of it. My spontaneous apple tree shoot.

This is my garden, it’s not much but I am so grateful for it. It’s been a little neglected this year as we wait to add some decking and other new features. Before my random idea, if anyone would have told me I would be creating beautiful imagery in it this summer, I wouldn’t have believed them.

The left was taken mid summer I think and the right was just before our photoshoot.

It was Thursday night and I had had enough of the birds eating all of my beautiful apples (notice there are non left at the top!). I knew if I ever wanted a photoshoot of these lovely red apples I knew it had to be asap. I checked the weather and it was due to rain for a fortnight. As spontaneous as this, I quickly messaged my friend who has a little 9 month old girl, not quite crawling and asked if she would be happy for her to model. The moment she’s said yes I ordered the first red dress I could find online a NEXT clothing for next day delivery. It arrived first thing Friday morning which was perfect.

After a day at the studio I took a couple of flashguns home with me with a soft box and a warm gel and set up straight away.

This is what my set up looked like. I actually took this shot later in the evening after our shoot but you get the idea! The light on the left was positioned to give the effect of evening sunlight shining through the tree and the soft box just to add a bit of punch to my subject.
This is gorgeous little Emilia (wondering why she is sitting under a tree I think!).

I also did a set up with a little stool to support her a little more. I also love these photos and will add them later once edited! You can’t quite see but my light is hiding in the back.

The results are just fabulous. A little bit of photoshop magic and just wow! I think I might start doing more spontaneous sessions like this it was so much fun. I also hope it goes to show that you don’t need an epic backdrop or garden to create a lovely photo of your little one.

If you want a photoshoot similar to this then I highly recommend looking into my new seasonal shoot. just click here to find out more!

Just a little something funny. I asked my little boy to go stand in front of the light so I can take his photo. This is where he sat. Blesss.
